June 12, 2012 – Ms. Vandana Thottoli attended the SDTT&AT (Sir Dorabji Tata Trust & Allied Trusts) Migration Partners Meet in Lucknow, UP. The conference provided us a chance to network with other organizations working with migrants and migration issues at a national level.

June 8, 2012 - Prof. Rama Melkote was invited as a civil society expert on the committee to select the NGO’s to run urban residential schools for deprived children Under Rajiv Vidya Mission.

June 1, 2012 – Tajuddin, our Research Associate was part of the fact finding team along with HRF and Aman Vedika to find out the Starvation death reported in Karimnagar District. The details of the visit to the village and the report is on the Right To Food website. The visit was reported by the local media both print and electronic.

April 24, 2012 - Yugantar’s Chief Executive Sashi Kumar was invited to give a lecture to the PMRDF Fellows at MCR-HRD campus. With an interesting title -“Why this Kolaveri?”, Sashi presented on the current issues being faced by the Tribals in the Naxal affected areas and how we can empathise with them.

April 14, 2012 - Member of Yugantar attended the George Reddy Memorial held at Osmani University.

March 16, 2012 - Tajuddin, our Research Associate gave a brief on ICDS programme to the volunteers of CHATRI a voluntary organization working in urban slums.

March 13, 2012 - Prof. Rama Melkote was invited by NIRD (National Institute for Rural Development) for a women’s day celebrations talk on “Right to Food Bill”.

February 17, 2012 - Blaft Publications launched "The Obliterary Journal", an anthology featuring innovative Indian comics. The Journal opened with an excerpt from the Hyderabad Graphic Novel which received favourable attention in reviews.

February 2, 2012 - Prof. Rama Melkote was invited for a talk on food security at the AP Womens Network meet on food rights, at Yadagirigutta in Nalgonda district. The meeting was organized by the AP regional centre.

January 29, 2012 - Jasraman Grewal and Jai Undurti travelled to the prestigious Angouleme Comic Book Festival in France. They presented the Hyderabad Graphic Novel and developed further projects with European artists.

December 26, 2011 - Yugantar organized its annual party at Barkatpura. It was attended by close to 100 Friends of Yugantar!

August 19, 2011 - The SVEC-Yugantar team met the Minister for Rural Development Shri. Jairam Ramesh to discuss the PURA project.

August 3, 2011 - Madan Mohan Rao attended the 1st meeting of the Sub-Group on PURA (Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas) for the 12th Five Year Plan under the chairpersonship of Secretary, Rural Development.

March - April 2011 - Prof. Rama Melkote along with Supriya and Sujata of CCC (Center for Caring Citizens) visited the Anganwadi centres in an around Hyderabad city and came up with a report which published in Andhra Jyoti, a Telugu newspaper.

December 29, 2010 - Yugantar-SVEC Consortium organized the (AP) State Consultation Meeting on Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) under the chairmanship of Special Chief Secretary – Panchayat Raj at Lake View Guest House, Raj Bhavan Road, Hyderabad. The list of invitees included the Principal Secretaries of various Government Departments, Warangal District Collector, Parvathagiri Mandal Development Officer and Sarpanch’s from our PURA Cluster.

December 7, 2010 - Yugantar and SVEC attended the Consultation Meeting on preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) projects at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Arvind Mayaram, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development.

December 5, 2010 - Triveni Goswami Vernal and Vandana Thottoli participated in the National Youth Consultations for the preparation of the Approach Paper for the 12th Five Year Plan at New Delhi (organized by Tehelka Foundation, Pravah, IYCN, The Liberal Youth Form, YP Foundation and JOSH).

November 24, 2010 - Yugantar-SVEC Consortium has been given the Letter of Intent (LOI) to undertake a Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) projects in the 10 villages of Parvathagiri Mandal of Warangal District, Andhra Pradesh.

October 21, 2010 - The first episode of Yugantar's Hyderabad Graphic Novel is now nearing completion. Writers Jai Undurti and Jasraman Grewal have been working closely with Calcutta-based artist Harsho Mohan Chattoraj, and the completed episode will be put up on their site in December. The final graphic novel will contain five such episodes in all. The progress of the Hyderabad Graphic Novel Project can be followed on their official site, http://www.facebook.com/HydGraphicNovel

October 10, 2010 - A day long Internal Workshop with all the research and field staff, key informants and youth participants from all five research locations was held at the Yugantar office. An engaged review of work completed thus far, as well as project objectives, plans and expected outputs took place. It was decided that working groups would be formed to address specific issues (such as education, employment, police harassment etc) which could develop into pressure groups towards the end of the project period.

September 20-22, 2010 - Triveni Goswami Vernal presented a paper Mirroring Identities : Reflecting Realities – Mumbai and its politics of representation, at the 2nd Global Conference on Strangers, Aliens and Foreigners, which took place at Oriel College, University of Oxford.

August, 2010 – Yugantar took part in the demonstration staged at Indira Park to protest against continued violence in Kashmir, organised by several human rights groups in the city.

August, 2010 – Mr. M. Laxmaiah, Dr. K. Lalita and Mr. M. Sashi Kumar organized a meeting on "the future of the left". Twenty odd people attended and found the discussion very stimulating and useful. The participants felt that the group should continue, and the task to create draft framework around which the group can function is now underway.

July 1, 2010 – A two day Research Design Workshop titled Tightropes and Bootstraps was conducted by Yugantar for the IDRC supported Muslim Youth Project. Apart from the project team we had the benefit of the presence of people like Dr. Vithal Rajan, Dr. Navsharan Singh, Ms. Deepa Dhanraj, Dr. Sarath Davala, Ms. Noorjehan Siddiqui and Mr. Mohammed Turab. We achieved our objective of brainstorming with resource persons on how to take the action research forward after having shared our preliminary data and analytical frameworks with them.

July, 2010 – Yugantar participated in a fact finding mission which investigated the movement of Muria Gond (gutti koya) people from Chattisgarh into the Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh over the last decade, as well as the living conditions of these people and the primary reasons for their migration.

July, 2010 - Prof. Rama Melkote visited the PTG Chenchu Tribal area along with MVF (Maamidipudi Venkatarangayya Foundation) members to assess the situation and seek Government support, particularly for drinking water as there is acute shortage in the region. HMTV also conducted a live discussion on the issue, in which she participated. The district authorities responded by promising to send water tankers - which they later did.

June 13-14, 2010 – A conference on ‘Building Peace in Dandakaranya’ was held at the Tribal Museum, Koratpur. The group proposed 5 points to enlarge the debate and involve the larger community in the effort to bring back normal life in Dandakaranya, relating to - consultations, restoring the fundamental rights of Tribals, supporting ceasefire initiatives, a state-specific programme and a common interstate programme. They also proposd to create an appropriate Internet based mechanism in order to facilitate communication, co-ordination and exchange of information between all the groups.

June 7, 2010 - The filming of a documentary on farmer’s suicides was completed (Dec 2009-June 2010) and was screened at Hyderabad. On behalf of CCC, Dr.Mohd.Khaza, a volunteer and resource person of CCC, directed this film. The film is soon to be translated to English.

June, 2010 - In view of the severe food insecurity prevailing in the PTG areas, Action Aid Hyderabad (regional office) is extending support to the Advisors office in order to conduct a survey in the 6 districts of AP. The proposal and budget have been developed and approved by Action Aid. The proposed study period is July-December 2010, and field visits are being planned.

May 26, 2010 - As part of the baseline survey, Prof. Rama Melkote visited and addressed the people at Kondravupally of Koderu Mandal in Mahaboobnagar District. She along with the coordinator of CCC organized the field work at Burgul village as a sample survey.

May 18-20, 2010 – Miss K.Sajaya visited the Paderu agency area to evaluate food security schemes with the help of local tribal organizations.

May 11-14, 2010 - Pittala Ravinder of the Advisors office participated in the Koraqput Food Security platform meeting.

April - July, 2010 – The CCC volunteers, Lakshmi, Vardhini, Kondal Reddy, Ravindra Reddy, Rameswar, Mysa Babu, Praveen, Nareshchary conducted the main baseline survey from April first week to second week of July in Mahaboobnagar, Warangal, Medak and Hyderabad. The findings of the survey were presented in Udaipur in the food security Platform organized by DCA.

April, 2010 - On request from the School and Hostel by CRS (Catholic Relief Society), Prof. Rama Melkote visited the schools in Warangal Town. As the school is private and not an aided school, they are not eligible for MDM funds. They previously had the support of American Aid under PL480, which will come to an end in December, and are now searching for support from the Government. Prof. Rama Melkote put them in touch with the Nominated MLA Ms.Christina Lazarus, who has agreed to help them.

March 29, 2010 – Due to CCC initiative, HMTV organized a programme on the flood victims of Krishna River and government response in Kurnool, which is to be telecast in April.

March 19, 2010 - Prof. Rama Melkote gave the keynote address at the National seminar on Regional Imbalances and Women’s Development, organized by the Women’s Studies Dept of Kakatiya University, Warangal. In the afternoon she spoke at the Gramsabha meeting in Gopalapuram village on agriculture and food security issues.

March 14, 2010 - Ms. K. Sajaya, coordinator of CCC, addressed a gathering of 700 women in Gajwel (Medak Dist) on agricultural policies, the burden on farmers and the context of suicides and the need for eliminating them. The occasion was International Women’s Day.

March 12-13, 2010 - Triveni Goswami Vernal attended the 5th Round of the "Knowledge and Experience Sharing Workshop" organized by Aajeevika Bureau in Udaipur.

March 11 and 16, 2010 - Two training programs on right to food were conducted for CRS (Catholic Relief Society), one in Hyderabad on March 11 and the other on March 16 in Vijayawada City. Mr. B. Kondal Reddy, field Coordinator of CCC, elaborated on the Supreme Court directions on the food security issue and their implementation in the rural areas.

March 6, 2010 - The public hearing organized by HMTV on farmer’s suicides and the response of the government was telecast, and received much response. Mr. K. Rama Chandra Murthy, Prof. Rama Melkote, Mr. Mallepally Lakshmayya, Dr. Devaki Devi, Mr. S.Jeevan Kumar, and Ms. Nandini Sidhareddy participated as panel members for the hearing.

March, 2010 - A workshop on the Baseline Survey was conducted by DCA for its partner organizations in AP in the Henry Martin Institute, Hyderabad.

March, 2010 - Yugantar, Anveshi, CCC and several other NGOs, academicians, intellectuals, professionals, civil societies and activists came together to form the Hyderabad Forum for Telangana, in order to discuss various issues relating to Telangana and Hyderabad.

March 3-6, 2010 - Prof. Rama Melkote participated in the training for the baseline survey to evolve a methodology. A field survey to test the methodology was conducted in Burgula (Faruqnagar Madal, Mahaboobnagar Dist), and resource persons for the training programme were Mr.Pradeep Sharma of DCA and Prof. Rama Melkote. The survey is now completed, and the Advisors office has taken the responsibility to conduct the survey in urban areas. This was done in four basties (slums) of Hyderabad.

March 2-3, 2010 - Yugantar was one of the 32 organisations shortlisted in South Asia for the Think Tank Initiative (TTI) of the International Development Research Centre, Canada.

February 26, 2010 – Prof. Rama Melkote participated in the programme “Janaghosha” of HMTV - conducted in Siddhipet Town - on farmer’s suicides and hunger deaths. Many local representatives of civil society organizations and district authorities participated and above all, the members of distressed families deposed before the public hearing organised by HMTV.

January 31, 2010 - CCC volunteers and members participated in a public hearing on BT Brinjal organized by the Central Ministry of Environment. The damage caused by BT cotton to environment and also to cattle, particularly in Warangal was focused upon, and health hazards caused by oil from BT crops was also discussed.

January 8-10, 2010 - A CCC volunteers workshop was organized at Tulja Bhavan, Kachiguda, Hyderabad, as the volunteers had been demanding information on agriculture, water resources and handlooms in the three districts of Telangana. Dr. Mohd. Khaza and Dr.M.M.Vinodini were coordinators of the programme. Prof. Rama Melkote also participated in the workshop, and spoke about various emerging issues of food security.

January 5, 2010 - Dr. Krishna Asvalayan, a medical doctor currently working with Medicines Sans Frontiers in Jharkhand, made a presentation on his work at the Yugantar office in Barkatpura.

November 25, 2009 - Yugantar organized lectures by Professor Johan Galtung, internationally renowned as the “Father of Peace Studies”, at Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) and University of Hyderabad (UoH).

November 21, 2009 - Yugantar launched its Hyderabad Graphic Novel Project – A city in argument with itself at Saptaparni in Hyderabad. The concept of HGN is to produce a narrative incorporating lived, fictitious, and historical stories about and from the city of Hyderabad in the form of a Graphic Novel.

June, 2009 - The DCA (Dan Church Aid) held a four day conclave organized by the CCC, Food Secretariat and Yugantar.

May, 2009 - Prof. Gautam N. Yadama from Washington University at St. Louis held a discussion on Human and Natural Systems Interaction at Yugantar.

March, 2009 - Mrs. Lalita K gave a lecture on Self Help Groups & Women’s Political Participation which was organized by Maulana Azad National University & Anveshi Research Centre for Women’s Studies Hyderabad. This was a refresher course in women’s studies funded by the UGC.

January, 2009 - Mrs. Lalita K gave a lecture on History of Women’s Movements in India, held in the Osmania University Academic Staff College.

2009 - Mrs. Lalita K took part in panel discussions held on E TV, HMTV and TV 9 on issues about food programmes of the Govt. and their implementation, PDS and deaths due to starvation, gender discrimination based on colour and women’s issues and government decentralization and political representation.

September, 2008 - The Hyderabad Forum for Justice conducted a media campaign about the biases in local media reporting about arrests of Muslim boys in Hyderabad.

October 19, 2008 - The Hyderabad Forum for Justice organized a discussion on 'Media Reporting on Terrorism: Political Implications' at Centre for Economic and Social Studies auditorium. The two main speakers were Mr. Ram Puniyani of Ekta and Mr. Ajit Sahi of Tehelka.
